SAULT STE. MARIE — A Native American tribe in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is receiving $2 million in federal funds to help build a manufacturing and warehouse facility.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the grant Tuesday for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. It will be matched with $350,000 in local funding.
The tribe will own the 20,000-square-foot center, officials said. It will serve existing tribal manufacturers and entrepreneurs while helping attract new industries
